The bitter taste of receipt

Found on a Tumblr:

I recently bought a four-pack of Play-Doh — big plans for the weekend — at my local Toys R Us and received, along with my purchase, over a foot and a half of receipt. That comes out to almost an inch of paper for every dime I spent. Here it is, broken down by height in inches: — An Entirely Other Day - Complete Receipt Defeat

Now, Greenpeace has been giving Apple, Inc. quite a lashing over not being quite green enough, despite their being quite a bit better than average. This is so important to the ostensibly environmentalist group that they have a top-level directory on their website dedicated to bashing Apple.

Apple tablet? WANT!

7 November, 2007 (13:37) | Mindless Links | By: radiantmatrix

A pretty authoritative rumor has it that Apple is finally building a Mac Tablet:

“Asus is helping Apple build a Tablet PC.”

We’re tempted to ignore all Apple rumours because there’s just so many of them, but this rings true because Asus is Apple’s contract manufacturer. It’s one of the companies responsible for building the iBooks, PowerBooks and MacBooks of this world, so when their guys tell us they’re building an Apple Tablet, we believe them. — Crave at CNET.co.uk

Just the possibility of that is putting me in a holding pattern — no way I’m buying a new MacBook if there’s a tablet coming out anytime soon. And if that tablet works as well as my iPod Touch, the tablet industry as a whole will be turned on its ear.

Yay!

Task-Centered User Interface Design

Task-Centered User Interface Design is a free e-book on a well-researched UI design methodology. I’ve been reading through it a bit, and I highly recommend anyone interested in UI design take a look.

If you’re not interested in UI design, but you write software for a living, then either change jobs or get interested in UI design.
