GMO (Genetically-Modified Organisms) food paranoia – “Reason is in retreat”
What’s wrong with people? Australia’s Herald Sun recently published an article about GMO foods paranoia (A bitter harvest), and it’s what prompted this rant.
Before this gets dismissed as “right-wing lunacy” or some other such ad hominem trash, let’s get my position on ecology clear. I’m no right-winger, and I’m pro-conservation. I moved to be within a mile of work, I pay extra to have my electricity usage generated by wind power, I recycle, I participate in clean-up events, I use a human-powered reel mower to mow my lawn, etc.. I’m even all for buying produce and other foodstuffs from local producers, when possible.
But the fear-mongers who conspire to keep GMO foods out of countries where people are starving are, plain and simple, accessories to manslaughter. Read more »
